Main Responsibilities

The Head of Solutions & Services Architecture & Implementations leads the delivery and oversight of customer-specific IT and AIOps solutions. The job is permanent and offers full-time hours with attractive benefits like medical aid, provident fund, and performance bonuses. As part of a dynamic managed services team, you’ll transform client requirements into scalable IT architectures while operationalising the strategic direction set by the CTO.

This position involves managing end-to-end solution implementation, integration, and delivery, distinct from the conceptual and strategic focus of the CTO role. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating architecture decisions, overseeing solution launches, and ensuring tight alignment with ITSM frameworks and global best practices. You’ll guide project delivery and enforce compliance with standards such as ITIL and ISO.

Expect to regularly interact with senior leadership, present architecture health dashboards, and manage performance measurement reports. Engagement with technology partners and OEMs forms a core part of your responsibilities, as does negotiating vendor agreements and ensuring contractual SLAs are met across implementations. You’ll drive the adoption of advanced tech such as AIOps tools, cloud platforms, and automation frameworks in all services delivered.

Risk management is critical, ensuring compliance with regulations like ISO 27001, GDPR, and POPIA. You’ll proactively address architecture, infrastructure, and vendor risks, always pursuing operational excellence. The role blends strategic oversight with hands-on delivery, requiring an expert who thrives on solving complex challenges.

Pros of the Opportunity

One outstanding aspect of this job is the breadth of its responsibility, offering experienced architects a true leadership role. You will be at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge solutions and have direct input into service optimisation and technological innovation.

The position comes with strong support for professional development and exposure to world-leading frameworks and methodologies, such as TOGAF, ITIL, AWS, and more. Comprehensive benefits like medical aid contributions and performance-driven bonuses add financial security and recognition.

Potential Drawbacks

This role is best suited for highly experienced professionals; the entry requirements are significant, including multiple certifications and extensive technical knowledge. Managing high-value projects and large multi-vendor teams can be demanding and may require long hours or additional commitment when delivery timelines are tight.

Regular reporting to senior stakeholders, as well as the operational management aspect, might be challenging for those who prefer hands-on technical work over administrative leadership. Also, the high level of compliance responsibility means strict adherence to evolving standards.

Verdict

If you’re an experienced IT architect seeking a senior-level role with the chance to elevate your career, this opportunity offers the space to lead, innovate, and make a real impact. With attractive benefits and involvement in advanced technologies, it’s tailored for professionals ready for their next major challenge.
