Learning Assistant ASN
Support children with additional needs and be part of an inspiring educational team. Earn £16,885–£18,885, gain training, and grow professionally on a fixed-term, full-time contract.
The Learning Assistant ASN position is a full-time, fixed-term contract until June 2026. Annual salary ranges from £16,885 to £18,885, offering a solid start for those passionate about early years education.
No home office is available for this role, so you will enjoy consistent face-to-face engagement. The schedule is 25 hours weekly, spread across five weekdays.
What You Will Do Each Day
You will support children with additional needs, helping foster their development in a vibrant nursery environment.
Communication with both staff and pupils is essential, requiring literacy and numeracy competence. You may also be assisting with daily routines, learning activities, and individual support plans.
You’ll have opportunity for ongoing professional development through training in first aid and other relevant techniques.
Collaborating within a larger team, you’ll promote an inclusive atmosphere and respond to each child’s unique needs.
Ensuring a safe and welcoming space for every youngster, you will also help implement behaviour management and calm strategies where required.
Standout Advantages
One highlight is the immediate impact you can make on young lives, supporting their journey through early education. This role is well-suited for those wishing to contribute meaningfully to the community.
The fixed-term stability and competitive salary are appealing, especially for early-career professionals. Added access to training and exposure to high standards in early years care further boost your CV.
Notable Downsides
With a fixed-term contract, there’s no guarantee of ongoing employment beyond June 2026. This can limit long-term planning. Advancement may require additional qualifications or experience.
Additionally, as there’s no remote option, flexibility is limited—meaning the commute will be part of your routine. Registration and training costs, like PVG scheme membership, are not covered by the council.
